Meeting our water challenge - have your say

A drier climate, population growth and land use changes are posing threats to the Victoria’s water supplies and waterway health. This is why the Victorian Government keeps track of our water, manage its use and how it is shared, and make plans to secure Victoria’s future supplies through sustainable water strategies and long-term water resource assessments as required by the Water Act 1989.

Long-term water resource assessments are carried out to examine how water availability and waterway health has changed. These assessments provide a clear picture of water supplies in the region as well as the health of waterways. The assessments are used to update and guide water planning, including how water is shared.

The Victorian Government is conducting an open consultation process to consider the views of the community. You can now review the long term water resource assessment and have your say online at engage.vic.gov.au/ltwra. Public consultation is open until November 30, 2019.

Want to discuss what this means for City West Water’s service area? A City West Water subject matter expert will be available to answer your questions at Open House Sessions planned for Werribee and Melbourne October 30 and 31. RSVP’s essential, book here.
